In the Shadow of Mount Everest

We were flying at almost 24,000 feet, and could see the peak of the highest mountain in the world! I've been to the Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls and Victoria Falls, but none compare to the majesty of Mount Everest. My friend said, "if you could flatten the mountains, Nepal would be a very large country." A large country with a great need for a Christian witness.

Pastors, evangelists and church leaders gathered with our Outline Bible Workshop team in Kathmandu, Nepal as we presented a 3-day workshop in coordination with Good News Publishers. Our host, Gopaljee Adhikari, made all of the necessary arrangements for our care and transportation. We experienced Nepalese hospitality at its finest both in the Adhikari home and at the church.

Pastor Gopaljee has been periodically working on a Nepali translation of Outline Bible Reources and printed What the Bible Says to the Minister  2 years ago. The newest work to be translated and printed is called Kingdom Principles. This work is the entire "Sermon on the Mount," Matthew 5-7, in Nepali in one volume. We received it on Sunday, before our workshop began on Monday. What an exciting time to release a new volume!

Those attending the workshop were anxious to discover What the Bible Says to the Minister and how to use the Preacher's Outline & Sermon Bible. Many were sitting on the floor on seat cushions during the entire workshop. Each session began with a time of worship and praise led by the worship team from the Lord's Assembly Church.

The first morning there were 70-75 pastors, evangelists and church leaders present. By the second morning the crowd grew to 120. Those receiving Certificants of Completetion and committing to the 10/30 Challenge were 71. Pastor Gopaljee writes:

Many of our participants shared with us that this is the best seminar we have had.

One brother told of pastoring a small church in Kathmandu. He then travels to the border of Tibet every few weeks to preach to a congregation of over 150. He related how Outline Bible Resources would help in his preparation and sermon time.

As I was praying one morning, looking out my window onto Kathmandu, I couldn't help but think of the 1.5 million people in that valley, in the shadow of Everest, who are lost without Christ in their lives. Over 98% of the population of Nepal (23.5 million) are Hindus, Buddhists, or Muslims. Outline Bible Resources can help prepare the Christians of Nepal to clearly preach the Word!

Our ultimate goal is to reach men, women, boys, and girls for Jesus Christ! Will you join us?
