OBR Workshops on the Zambeze

Fed by the Zambezi River, Victoria Falls is the largest waterfall in Africa and at flood stage is the largest in the world! One hundred and ten miles up the Zambezi River, a five day Outline Bible Resources (OBR) Workshop was held for Zambian pastors and church leaders.

 Three couples, six Christian workers, from a local Chattanooga church traveled 9,300 miles to partner with Kit and Mary Ann Smith, IMB missionaries with the Southern Baptist Convention. Their goal was to teach Christian workers how to use OBR and then equip them with the material.

 Each day 75 men and women from different evangelical denominations and different villages came to study God’s Word using:

  • What the Bible Says to the Minister
  • The Preacher’s Outline & Sermon Bible® (POSB) ,  Genesis 1 (chapters 1-11)
  • POSB, Matthew 1 (chapters 1-16:12)
  • The Teacher’s Outline & Study Bible™, James

 Upon seeing the Outline Bible Resources each would receive at graduation, Moses, our principle interpreter, said, “This has surely been a week of blessings!”

 And when they graduated, at the end of the workshop as Master Teachers in Outline Bible Resources, they each received the volumes taught from which totaled over fours years of preaching/teaching material! At the same time, the 10/30 Challenge was issued. Sixty-seven participants responded positively saying with God’s help they would seek to train ten people in the next thirty days with the material they had studied in the seminar.

 Does the “Challenge” work? After returning, Jonathan Burkett received a letter from a new friend who said, “I have fulfilled the challenge of training 10 in 30 days. Please let Dr. John know.”

 Speaking about the five day OBR Workshop, Pastor Imungo said, “This has been a revival for leaders in Sesheke!”
